NOT SO ORDINARY BEANIE
This is a variation on the basic beanie. One casts on at the brim and knits a basic ribbing for three inches and then move into stockinette while beginning four traveling stitches that slowly spiral around the head.
Pattern is written for dpns with comments in parenthesis for adapting to magic loop. Pattern features standard decreases, traveling stitches and a cinched closure. Works especially well with variegated yarn. Example in photo knit with Nadezhda’s Crayon Box, superwash merino worsted, Coral Reef.

Jana’s Baby Wrap Top
As a newborn my daughter was gifted a wonderful sweater that seemed to magically grow as she grew. As a newborn it wrapped around her, at nine months it was a sweater with three quarter sleeves, at a year it was a shrug with short sleeves. I have tried to duplicate this magical garment.
Jana’s Baby Wrap Top is knit flat from the top using raglan shaping. The fronts gradually increase with one side fastening with a tie to the inside seam, the other front crosses to fasten at the outside seam with a button. Increases used are M1R and M1R. The sleeves have purled edges and a decorative icord bind off is used for the body.
