For the fourth year, YarnStory will be dedicating two months to Hats.
The May Knit-a-Long (KAL) features a beanie style hat, the Not So Ordinary Beanie, knit in a worsted wool. The June KAL will feature a raffia yarn, the design is still undisclosed.
If you have never knit a hat before, this is your chance to learn. During the KAL there are two opportunities each Thursday to stop by and sharpen your hat knitting skills: 11:30 to 12:30 pm or 4:45 to 5:45 pm.
Hats are quick knits and a great way to use up those odd skeins in your stash. Plus, being small, it is a great way to learn a new technique.
This will be the fourth year that YarnStory will be encouraging knitters and those who crochet, to create a hat and donate it to the Hat Closet.
The Hat Closet is housed at the local office of the American Cancer Society and provides hats to anyone going through chemotherapy who needs a hat. YarnStory will be collecting hats throughout May and June.
Patterns for the hats pictured here are available as pdfs through the links below left. Please, donate a hat for the local Hat Closet, or to a charity of your choice.
