I am enjoying knitting the lace pattern of the Hitofude. It is a 12 stitich, ten row repeat and most importantly the lace pattern is logical. After a few repeats I found it easy to follow the progression of the yarn overs. Once I understood how the lace pattern progressed, it is a lot easier to remember the pattern without constantly having to look at a chart or written instructions. I made it even easier by placing markers between each pattern repeat. I am easily distracted, so with the markers between each repeat, I can drop my knitting, pick it up and at a glance know where I am in the lace pattern. Having markers between each repeat has also allowed me to catch errors quickly.
I added an extra lace repeat to each sleeve as I wanted tp be certain that the sleeves would fall below my elbow. Now that I am five repeats into the sleeve/back, I know I will need to add two or three repeats to assure that I have enough positive ease in the sleeve for me to be comfortable.
