Welcome to YarnStory, centrally located on South King Street in Honolulu!
Walk into YarnStory and find natural fibers for knitting and crochet. You will also find spindles and tatting supplies. Maluhia Farm on the Big Island supplies us with natural roving and fleece (natural and dyed) for needle felting. YarnStory now carries alpaca roving in three natural colors from the Big Island.
YarnStory carries cotton, silk, hemp, linen, wool and alpaca. You will also find numerous fiber blends. Need tools? You can find knitting needles (straight, dpn, circular) in bamboo, metal and wood. We carry Addi turbo lace needles in a variety of sizes. Crochet hooks are also available in the traditional metal, a soft touch handle and in wood. YarnStory carries the Knitters Pride interchangeable needles with their large option in cable lengths (16, 24, 32, 40, 47 and 60 inches) and two types of needle tips (Dreamz and Cubics). Also on the shelf are Knitter’s Pride Nova and Cubic double-pointed needles as well and bamboo and Brittany dpns.
Looking for yarn for a shawl? Check out Zauberball, (new colors on the shelf), bold lace from Misti Alpaca, or Legacy Lace from Brown Sheep. The Malabrigo lace colors are especially vibrant and the yarn is unbelievably soft, just like the Malabrigo sock yarn, which is frequently used for scarves and shawls, to great effect. New for YarnStory is a 100% cashmere fingering weight yarn (400 yds) hand dyed by Nadezhda’s Crayon Box.
Other sock yarns available include Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock, Wildfoote (great for bold bright colors) by Brown Sheep, naturally colored yarns by Cestari, as well as Tofutsies, Zauberball Crazy and others.
YarnStory carries cotton in a rainbow of colors. We also stock HempforKnitting. Check out the KCC Farmer's Market Bag on the Designs page. This project requires only two skeins of allhemp3 to create a strong but light bag to carry your produce home from the market.
YarnStory strives to provide natural fibers produced by local (United States) companies when possible. We are happy to carry yarns produced by Brown Sheep, Cestari, Harrisville Designs, Lorna's Laces, and Schaeffer Yarns. You can also find locally dyed yarn created by Nadezhda's Crayon Box.
